GORGEOUS cable needles!

These were a gift from my mom. The cable needles are from Celtic Swan Forge and she designed the case herself!

A State of Shock

I’m done.

Like, TOTALLY DONE.

EVERY SINGLE ONE of my college applications, supplements, and payments has been submitted. The living hell is over, for better or for worse.

Now to settle in for a nice three-month wait. That should be fun.

Finally, an actual knitting post.

I know it may be hard for you to believe.

But BELIEVE IT! ;)

Pattern: Poinsettia by Anne Hanson, Knitty 2008

Yarn: Elsebeth Lavold Silky Wool, less than one skein – I think the yarn requirements on the pattern are a gross overestimate – I probably used less than 150yds for this.

Needles: US4

Okay, so funny story:

I was at tour group rehearsal, and my friend asked me what I was making. I pulled out this pattern to show her, and her immediate response was, “Oh, a neck tube!”

And there was much chuckling.

Elf Day!

I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves. :)

That morning, before getting on the bus (yes, dressed like that)

At school:

I’ve been on a mad finishing spree, and don’t really feel like posting all the pics here, so if you want to see my fabulous holiday labor, check out my Ravelry page.

Feeling Better

I was pretty down on myself the last couple of days. After slogging through the majority of the essays for my safeties Tuesday evening and just digesting for awhile, I’m a bit more in perspective. Although I still REALLY hope I get in regular decision, I could certainly survive as long as it doesn’t come down to actually going to one of my safeties…

Knitting and elf picture to come Friday or over the weekend!

*sigh*

Thanks for all the comments yesterday, guys. I was deferred. The crappiest part about it is, now I have to do all my safety applications! GAAH!

Tension is building…

I find out tomorrow evening whether or not I’ve been accepted to Yale.

Whoah.

Very Much Not Me

So this is me:

Or, more accurately, it was me yesterday. All but two fingers of the nail polish are gone now. But seriously. I HAD nail polish. This is a breakthrough, so to speak. Here’s how the story goes: I was at the salon place, and they messed up the schedule, leaving like 45 minutes between dying my hair (also something unusual) and cutting it, so the lady was like ‘want a free manicure?’ My gut reaction was, unsurprisingly for me, ‘Pfft, no, I want to read my book, thank you’…but then I thought, what the heck? So, half an hour and many abused cuticles later, I had shiny purple fingernails. And quite dark hair. A bit darker than I wanted, actually, but decently nice anyway. And that was my yesterday.

In knitting, and much more typical ‘me’ news, the first elf shoe is nearly done!

Holiday Frenzy!

Guess what? I wrote my (hopefully) LAST college essays today! If I don’t get in early at Yale, I’ll have to do the safety ones, which won’t be fun. So I HOPEHOPEHOPE that those were the last ones. Now I just have to finish Alethia’s Dartmouth peer rec.

Anyway. On to fun, crafty things. Yesterday when we got home from school, my little sis and I decided to make ourselves duct tape dress forms. She wrapped mine a bit too tightly, so by the end I definitely would have passed out if I tried to panic or run anywhere. But they’re pretty nifty, nonetheless.

Here we are, goofing off for the camera while working on them.

(The shirt said ‘Bill Clinton for First Lady’ – I thought it was funny, even though I supported Obama all along…)

After the first part:

And guess what mine’s stuffed with…?

Big surprise, no?

And she’s finished! What should I name her? Suggestions in comments.

Also there’s been a holiday knitting frenzy! Check this out:

For more than just snippets, check out the Ravelry pages for these lovelies.

Keep on the lookout for elf costume photos. At school, the last day before break, all the seniors dress up as elves. I’m planning a fairly…nonstandard one, shall we say. ;)
